This page summarizes my contribution project in the WPCredits program, as part of the SC-270 Computing and Society course at Fidélitas University. It will be updated as the term moves forward.
Contribution area: Photo Directory
The WordPress Photo Directory is a library of free photos that anyone can use on their websites. Every photo is published under a CC0 (public domain) license and is reviewed by team volunteers before it is approved.
My contribution is to take and submit original photos, mainly of Costa Rican landscapes and nature, following the official directory guidelines. Each approved photo is linked to my WordPress.org profile, so it is a verifiable contribution.
Why I chose this team
- I enjoy photography and nature, and Costa Rica has unique landscapes that can be useful for websites all over the world.
- It is an area that allows several contributions during the term.
- It lets me learn about free licenses, image quality and review processes in an open community.
Expected scope
- Read the Photos team handbook and the submission guidelines.
- Submit original photos that follow the guidelines (no identifiable people, no brands, no watermarks, good quality).
- Document on this blog which photos were approved or rejected and what I learned from each review.
- Take part in the team’s Slack channel when I have questions.
